Day 7: Woman of God Series - #3 Goodbye, Old; Hello, New

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires.
Ephesians 4:22 NIV

Imagine you are in a supermarket and you see two apples of the same price. One is small but you can say that it is a fresh harvest, and the other one is big but looks like it was hidden under your bed for two weeks. Which is more appealing to you, the small one or the bigger one? All of us would surely pick the small one. Yes, it is small, but we are sure that it will not make us sick. Unlike the big one, we are not sure if it is safe to eat or maybe it was just accidentally put there in display and was really meant for disposal.

It is inevitable for us to make sins because we are not perfect. But you know this thing that differs us from others? It is whenever we sin, we ask God for forgiveness and make a covenant to never do it again. God’s mercy and forgiveness is always given to one who earnestly confesses his/her sin.

We may have dark pasts that prevent us to move forward, but through God’s grace, we are renewed every day. We are not defined by our sins anymore because we have our own identity in Christ. I know it is hard, starting to leave your comfort zone and strive for change. We will experience changes in our environment—friendship, workplace, relationship, even in our own home. But as long as we do what pleases God and we’re doing the right thing, there is nothing to be afraid of.

The desires of our physical body are different from the desires of the Spirit. So, it is important to be aware about what we think, say and act because every move we make can affect us and our relationship with God. It is now time to leave your old self and live on the new one changed by Him.

Spend a few minutes of this day praying to God. Invite Him and let His spirit dwell in you as you face each day. Ask for the old self to be removed in you and be replaced with a new one with His will in it.

“I am Your God and you are Mine. You are not defined by your mistakes. For Me you are a new clean person, like a sheep as white as snow. Now come to Me and continue to follow Me. I will give you wisdom on how to change and how you will deal with yourself each day. I love you, My daughter.”

    Have a blessed day!

Always looking up,
J
